Hi Everyone!

To all my friends who have started a new year at school as a student or professional, I want to say congratulations and good luck! To everyone else, I say bring on the fall! I don't know about you but, it's hot down here in Florida. We could really use some cooler temps. (That explains my haircut.)

Today's issue features a fun true story from a concert I went to, and some extremely valuable steps to overcomming challenges on your journey. We all have them- especially me and these tips have been invaluable on my journey!

To your continued success,

Jimmy Moore (or MOST as suggested on a recent facebook poll!)

PS. Go UCF Knights, USC Gamecocks, and Miami Dolphins! (all my home teams)

How to fall down in front of 10,000 people.

You probably heard about this story, but let me tell you from my perspective!  This past month, I went to the "Beyonce' Experience" at the Amway Arena in Orlando. The truth is that I won free tickets on the radio. I'm not going to lie, I was thrilled, one, for winning something on the radio... (Who is really that lucky?) and two for getting to see Beyonce in all of her live glory. It was full-on 45 pounds of hair extensions, 8 wardrobe changes (no malfunctions), an entrance from every possible angle including above, below and "to the left, to the left" of the stage.

The seats were not front row nor floor level, but let's just call them heavenly, cause frankly, the were touching heaven!  We were next to the jumbo screen so I had a great view of the video of the concert!   The show was fantastic! Her powerful and unique voice blew us all away and her moves brought the audience to our feet! It was an incredible spectacle.

Then it happened, every performer's nightmare. During a powerful rendition of her recent hit, "Ring the Alarm", Ms. Knowles appeared in a cape like red sequin dress and began her stomp down the stairs. About 1/4 of the way down, she slipped and fell face first down about 8 steps.  She hit the ground hard, shooting the microphone across the stage as the audience sucked all the air out of the room with a collective gasp. While we were still holding our breath, she jumped up, grabbed her microphone and started singing again, throwing her full force back into the performance. The show must go on.

After the 10 minute medley was over, she sat down with a bottle of water and admitted, "Man, that hurt so bad, y'all!" We cheered her on and watched with admiration as she finished her show with an unequaled performance.

Success Lessons from a Pop Diva

I have to thank Beyonce' for teaching me 3 important lessons that night:

  • Don't wear 6 inch high heels while dancing on stairs. (No problem here!)
  • Even if you ask 10,000 people nicely, not to put your fall you YouTube, 4 people will. (But don't worry, your record label will get it down asap!) (Feel free to put me on Youtube!)
  • Even the most successful people fall down. What makes them successful is that they get back up and keep dancing.

How to: Get on up!

First of all, know this: We will all have challenges and we will all fall occasionally, some more than others. These challenges and falls are not failures. They are all part of the process. Every great success needs to do it wrong a few times before we figure out what is right! Check out these proven steps to overcome any fall!

1. Recognize the power of the fall.

The most successful people in history have credited their success to many of the challenges in their life. The worlds most oppressed cultures and people have become more passionate and risen up more than any other to overcome these challenges. In fact, don't just accept the fall, be grateful for the challenge, knowing that it makes you stronger on your way to the top. Once you get to the top, you will have a great story to tell!

2. Learn from the fall.

Ask yourself why you fell. What was the cause of your challenge? Did you miss something in the plan? Does your plan need some work? Do you have the resources, skills and knowledge to accomplish your goals?  Answer these question and take a good look at your plan and determine what you need to do to succeed. Remember, if you do what you've always done, you will get what you've always gotten.

 3. Refocus on the goal.

Get passionate about your goal. Write down all the reasons WHY you want to accomplish it and start to feel what it would feel like to overcome all of your challenges and actually achieve your dreams.

4. Take immediate massive action.

Action breeds results and creates momentum. The best way to get something done quickly is to DO SOMETHING! Don't spend too much time thinking ...take some action, any action and just get it done!

Did you know that every airplane in the sky spends 90% of its flight making small corrections to stay on the flight path? It's because of these corrrections along the way that the plane lands in the intended city. If you keep making small corrections along the way, you will arrive at your destination!
