There are many new subscribers to our "Moore Success" community! To our new friends, I say, "Welcome!" If you are not new, welcome back and here's a brand new issue just for you!
Latley, I've been thinking a lot while driving in my car. I spend quite a bit of time in my car. Instead of focusing on the traffic and all the crazy drivers on the road, I try to use my commute productively. Sometimes I use it to process my day, relax or listen to a speaker tape or podcast. (Zig Ziglar calls that "Automobile University.")
Sometimes I run through new ideas for speeches or books on my digital voice recorder and more often than not, I belt out some tunes as if I'm the hottest up and coming recording star! My digital recorder tells me that I should either get some training or give up on that dream!
That got me thinking about dreams and how often we "give up" on our dreams. Some childhood dreams may no longer interest us but what about the dream that still burns deep inside? What about the goal that we know we must reach but have no idea how?
While I realize this may be a challenge, its certainly not impossible. Every great dream realized in history had to pave its own road at one time. With this in mind, I've decided that no matter how old I get, it will never be too late to take those singing lessons. With the formula included in this newsletter, I've set that goal, created an action plan which I will follow and follow that up with some review to see if it worked!
I hope this issue of "Moore Success" inspires you and arms you with the resources to take the next step in reaching your dreams and achieving your goals.
With much love and respect,
Jimmy Moore
Powerful Planning
Do you live your life in action or re-action? Are you setting the stage and directing your own life, or are you simply a player responding to all that is around you. If you really want to realize your dreams and reach your goals, you have to be the writer, director and actor in your own production called life. Follow these 4 simple steps and you will see amazing results!
#1 Goal Setting- The What and WHY
Before you can try to do anything, you've got to know what you are trying to do. Make sure your goals are S.M.A.R.T. goals and if you don't know what that is, Google it, or just take a look a the panel to the right of this article. See how easy that was!
Make you goals compelling and inspiring, something that really lights your fire, that really gets you going. A dull goal will result in a dull effort. The most important part of writing goals is to know the "WHY?" Why you want to achieve something is more important than anything. If you have a compelling why, the how should be easy!
#2 Action Planning - The HOW
Once you have compelling and clear goals, don't jump right into action. Take a few minutes to decide the HOW. What are you going to do? What steps you will take from start to finish to accomplish this goal. Set realistic action steps in place and set a timeline for each to hold yourself accountable.
#3 Action
This part is easy. Since you already know WHAT, WHY and HOW, all you have to do is DO IT. Don't wait . Get moving, put your plan into action. This is the fun part. Do what you said you are going to do and keep on keepin on.
#4 Review
Probably the most important part of the whole process, but the one people spend the least amount of time on. Did it work? Did the action steps you took achieve your goal? If so, celebrate, do a dance, rock on and set your next goal! If not, no biggie, ask why not and return to step 2. The most important part of the review process is that you NEVER GIVE UP. If your goal is compelling enough to get you this far, its worth it. Change your action plan and try again.
